About our founder

O’Violet J. Oree

O’Violet J. Oree grew up in Dale, SC.  In 1973 she entered college life at Baptist College at Charleston, now Charleston Southern University, in Charleston, SC.  During her first year in college, she received Jesus Christ as her personal savior, (April, 1974).  While a college student, she met her husband through a friend at the College of Charleston.  They were married in August 1976 and have five children.

After receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree at Baptist College at Charleston, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and at the College of Charleston she obtained a Master Degree in the Art of Teaching.  In 1990 she became a full-time elementary school teacher.  During this time, she was also a missionary and later the Assistant Pastor and then Co-Pastor of the House of God, Miracle Temple in Adams Run, SC, the church her husband founded in 1975.   In 2009 O’Violet and her husband both received their Honorary Doctoral Degrees of Ministry from Grace Hill Bible College of Plainfield, New Jersey.  Shortly afterward her husband initiated the start of Grace Hill Bible College at the Adams Run Civic Center, in Adams Run, SC and at Magic Kingdom Childcare Development Center in North Charleston.  She taught at Grace Hill Bible College for ten years.

It was also in 2009 that the vision for Passing Along the Torch (PATT), became an inspiration.  The organization was then focusing on Christian women passing along wisdom between one another. The first conference was held in 2010.  For nine years women’s conferences were held in Savannah, Ga, Charlotte, N.C., Charleston, SC, Beaufort, SC, and Alpharetta, Ga.  In 2019 through inspiration from the Lord, she renamed the organization Bearers of the Torch, BOTT.  The organization now includes men, women, and teens.

O’Violet is now a retired school teacher (after 21 years), having left the job early as the Lord instructed.  She is also a former Day Care owner, but assists with running the daycare at Adams Run Civic Center in Adams Run, SC and continues to co-pastor House of God, Miracle Temple, all while structuring her life for whatever God says.
